Message from the President

April 2010

Dear Members,

When I was elected to serve a second term as your president I was excited and honored. I would like to sincerely thank the VFCCA board and members for your awesome support these past four years.  It has been privilege to represent our association both locally, statewide and nationally. There are many initiatives we need to pay attention to that will affect us as Child Care Professionals such as the Quality Rating Improvement Systems (QRIS), reauthorization of the USDA Child and Adult Food Program, and the Child Care Development Block Grant.

The past four years has brought different milestones for our association and this past year has been both exciting and an adventure, writing and implementing the CHT Grant. It was an honor for our association to be one of the few recipients of the $12,000.00 grants.  The grant provided our members with opportunities for professional growth, an awesome Toy Lending Library, outreach to fellow providers, the redesign of the VFCCA Website, new logo and banner.

As I leave the office as your president, I will be a supportive past president.  Nominations for the VFCCA Board positions; President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership will be recognized at the April 27th Meeting; voting will be held at the May 27^th meeting.  The website will soon have the responsibilities of the board positions posted.

I encourage everyone to renew your VFCCA membership, the membership fee pales in comparison to the benefits. With your involvement, no matter how minor, it will strengthen our organization, and it will be stronger as we work together to build our association and be heard and recognized as Early Child Care Professionals!

Join me in thanking your other board members, Lendel, Marilyn, Vicki, and Jacqueline for their time and tremendous dedication, wearing different hats serving on the VFCCA Board. Kudos to the members who may not have served on the board during my terms, but with their involvement have made a big difference; Corinne Kelly, calling members when needed, Therese Harwood, coordinated referrals for our members, Nancy Mullins, refreshments at all the meetings, Teri Wendt, sending out cards to our members, and Babette Munoz for acting secretary when asked.

This month is our third annual provider appreciation dessert, I am asking all members to come to this evening of recognition. You deserve it!
